

Mark was born on July 29, 1965, in Atlanta Georgia. He is preceded in death by his mother, Benny (O’Bryant) Tackett. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Michelle (Phelps) Tackett and their two children Jake and Haley.
Mark is survived by his father, Carl L. Tackett Sr, of Flowery Branch, GA, his brother Carl (Eva) Tackett, Jr of Smyrna, GA, his sister Julie (Robert) Horne of Flowery Branch, GA, his niece Tonya (Jonathan) Gardner of Dallas, GA and nephew Brandon (Teresa Hardison) Perkerson of Bremen, GA. He is also survived by his grandniece Hattie Gardner and two grand nephews, Jack Gardner and Bennett Perkerson.
Mark had a vast career in the mortgage industry which began in 1987. He was employed at Home Point Mortgage as a Vice President of the Wholesale Division. Prior to joining Home Point Mortgage, Mark was employed by Platinum Mortgage as Vice President of the Wholesale Division. In 1995, while working at Primary Capital, he met his (future) wife Michelle. They were engaged in 1996 and married in 1997. Mark strived to build teams of loyal employees and his proudest achievement is that he helped these employees build financial success for themselves and their families.
Mark loved to be surrounded by family and friends. He lived life to the fullest enjoying water sports, snow skiing, golf, tennis and NASCAR. Mark’s passion for golf led him to join Marietta Country Club. Mark was a long-standing member of Marietta Country Club since 2000 and was an active member who loved spending time there with his many friends and enjoying a glass of wine. Mark was an accomplished golfer and tennis player and played both in ALTA leagues and then various golf tournaments at the club. Mark was always very generous with his time, supporting the membership in many volunteer roles. Mark was recently elected to the Board of Directors at MCC and most recently served on the executive board as Chairman of the Finance Committee.
Mark will be dearly missed by all who knew him especially for his funny wit and contagious smile. He was always the life of any party.
Visitation and Viewing will be held between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm on Friday, April 7th, 2023, at NorthStar Church, 3413 Blue Springs Rd, Kennesaw, GA 30144. A private graveside service will be held at Georgia Memorial Cemetery in Marietta, Georgia where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved mother.
