Mary Ann Adkins Hill

Mary Ann Adkins Hill, age 100, of Acworth, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022. Mary was born August 18, 1921 in Elmodel, GA. She was the widow of the late Lt. Col Hugh E. Hill, Jr. Following military retirement in 1968 Lt. Col. and Mrs. Hill made Acworth, GA their home. Mrs. Hill was the daughter of the late Alex and Toy Adkins of Elmodel, GA. She was a graduate of Baker County High School, Piedmont Hospital School of Nursing and the Emory University Nurse Practitioner Program. Mrs. Hill was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army-Air Force Health Corp attaining the rank of Captain. During her nursing career she held the following positions: Piedmont Hospital Surgical Assistant; Chief Nurse of the Columbia Air Force Base in SC; Wayne County, NC School Nurse; Lockheed Medical Staff; Director of Nursing at the Rockmart, GA Hospital; GA Department of Human Resources where she held many clinics throughout the state of GA as a Nurse Practitioner assisting others.

Mrs. Hill is survived by her two sons, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh E. Hill, III of Ladys Island, SC and Mr. and Mrs. James C. Hill of Harrison, TN; three grandsons, Hugh IV, Tristan, David; two grand daughters, Sarah and Rebekah; Great Great Grandchildren, Victoria, Ashleigh, Dawson; brother, Arthur Adkins of Commerce, GA.

A visitation for Mary will be held Thursday, April 7, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Acworth Presbyterian Church, 4561 Church St., Acworth, GA, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Following the funeral service Mary will be laid to rest at Liberty Hill Cemetery, 4900 Cemetery Road, Acworth, GA.
