Miriam Kirkland Holding

Miriam Kirkland Holding, age 84, of Acworth, GA, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 19, 2023, at Wellstar Tranquility Hospice Kennesaw Mountain, Marietta, GA, with her children by her side. She was born Monday, October 24, 1938, to the late Albert Wadley Kirkland and Olive Melson in Brunswick, GA.

Miriam graduated from Ft. Lauderdale High School (FL) in 1956. She went on to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Florida State University and taught as an Elementary School Teacher for 35 years with the Broward County School System in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Wesley Robert Holding (2006). She is survived by her children, daughter Wendy (Carl) Deal of Kennesaw, GA, son Todd (Virginia) Holding of Kennesaw, daughter Cindy Holding of Acworth, her sister Sandra (Robert) Gulick of Spring, TX, brother-in-law, Roger Holding of Oak Lawn, IL, grandchildren/step-grandchildren, KiLeigh Adams, Olivia (Ben) Bolthouse, Andrew Smith, Jacob Smith, Wes Holding, great granddaughter, Eliana Bolthouse, nephews, Bob (Pauline) Gulick), Greg (Missy) Gulick, and niece, Sheryl (Mike) Mulhall.

Miriam will be remembered for her selflessness in giving to others and in her final days remarked how fortunate she was. She lived her life demonstrating her love for family, friends, and her faith. She loved her dog, Rocky, and was a devoted Elvis fan. Following retirement from teaching, Miriam and Wesley spent time building their dream home in Live Oak, FL.

The Holding family will receive friends Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 4:00-6:00 pm at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, Kennesaw, GA. A graveside service for Miriam will be held at Rosemary Baptist Church Cemetery in Live Oak, FL on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 11:00 am. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Rosemary Baptist Church Cemetery. Daniels Funeral Home, 1126 Ohio Ave North, Live Oak, FL will preside over the service and burial arrangements.
