

Mrs. Root raised four children and was a homemaker most of her life. She supported her husband’s career as a Civil Engineer, moving multiple times as the work required. She loved God and had deep spiritual beliefs. She was an active member in her church and served in many ministries. She was a founding member and receptionist in the office at the Catholic Church of St. Ann in Marietta for several years. She later became a member of St. Peter Chanel in Roswell and finally a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Kennesaw for the last 15 years.
She had many wonderful gifts which she shared generously throughout her life. She was a loving mother to her children and grandchildren. She had a beautiful singing voice, was a wonderful cook and loved to travel. She was a loyal and loving friend and had the ability to make friends easily.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, William “Gene” Root, brother Philip Thomas, grandson Mark Klaus and son-in-law Harry Klaus. Survivors include her sister Lynn Saab (Peter John), her three daughters, Marsha Klaus, Cheryl Root, and Mary Root (Lisa), one son, Steven Root (Chantelle), grandchildren Kimberly Estep, Daniel Root, Meryl Redmon-Root, and adopted through marriage Kristina Chandler (Aaron), and her sisters-in-law, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Muriel will be held Wednesday August 7, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm with a rosary at 7:00 pm at Winkenhofer Funeral Home, 2950 North Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, Georgia. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 AM Thursday, August 8, 2024, at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, 1618 Ben King Rd, Kennesaw, GA 30144, Fr. Neil Dhabliwala officiating. Interment will be held 11 am Friday, August 9, 2024, at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton Ga.
