

Mr. Richard Julius Lanyi, 87, passed away on March 18, 2026. Born June 28, 1938, in Swissvale, PA. Richard was a beloved, devoted, and kind-hearted man whose life was defined by faith, family, and steady service to others. He was a resident of Acworth, Georgia.
Richard served in the Navy, carrying forward a sense of duty and commitment that remained evident throughout his life. Richard and his wife, Sarah (Sage) Lanyi, were married for 66 years. A father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Richard held close the conviction that family was the most important thing in his life, and he lived that truth in the way he loved, supported, and showed up for those he cherished. Richard was a Knight of Columbus and gave his time generously as a coach and an umpire, roles that reflected both his dedication to community and his steady, encouraging presence.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Julius Robert Lanyi; his mother, Elizabeth Cherney Lanyi; his son, Christopher Lanyi; his brother, Gerald Lanyi.
Richard is survived by his wife, Sarah (Sage) Lanyi; his daughter, Joanne Lambie (Corey); his sons, Thomas Lanyi (Beth) and David Lanyi (Bonnie); his sister, Deanna Kuharcik; 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am on April 30, 2026, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 87 Lacy St NW, Marietta, GA 30060.
