Ruth Marie (Long) Hensley

Ruth Marie (Long) Hensley, a beloved resident of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on January 22, 2026, at the age of 86. She was born on October 6, 1939, in Cumberland, Maryland, to Leslie and Ethel Long, and lived a life defined by dedication, compassion, and love.

Ruth attended nursing school at City Hospital in Martinsburg, Virginia, where she earned her nursing degree. She went on to enjoy a long and fulfilling career as a nurse at WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where she served others with skill and kindness until her retirement.

She was married to her best friend and the love of her life, Duane R. Hensley, for 57 years, until his passing. Together, they raised two sons whom they loved dearly. Ruth was a devoted mother and grandmother and is survived by her son, Derek Hensley, and his wife, Kim; her brother, Wayne Long, and his wife, Sue; and her cherished grandchildren, Breanna Hensley and Christopher Hensley. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Duane R. Hensley, and her son, Scott Hensley.

Ruth found joy in gardening, cross-stitching, working crossword puzzles, and, most of all, spending time with her family. She was an active and faithful member of Western Hills Baptist Church, where her strong faith and close personal relationship with God were central to her life.

Known for her hardworking, loving, and caring nature, Ruth also had a wonderful sense of humor and a comical spirit that brought smiles and laughter to those around her. Her legacy is one of kindness, faith, and unwavering devotion to her family and community.

A committal service will be held on February 6, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, located at 2950 North Cobb Parkway, Kennesaw, Georgia 30152. Ruth will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
