Shirley Ann Bender

Shirley Ann Bender, age 83, of Acworth, Georgia passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2023. She was born in Whiting, Indiana on November 7, 1939, to the late George and Victoria Kaminsky. Shirley was strong in her faith and attended Saint Clare of Assisi Catholic Church as well as Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Manteno. She was always giving and volunteering out in the community, Shirley made and donated prayer shawls to hospice patients, as well as volunteered at Riverside Hospital. She was a girl scout leader, and a member of the choir at the churches she attended. Shirley was also a member of the Sherlock Holmes Club and Manteno Womans Club. Most of all Shirley loved to spend time with her family and friends and cherished every moment she had with them. Shirley was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She will be missed by all that knew her.

Shirley is survived by her daughters; Susan (Joel) Wiersma, Debra (Rick) Hutchinson, Jennifer (Gerald) Fisher, Cynthia (Clyde) Braviere and Lisa (Jason Monroe) Bender, brother; George (Del) Kaminsky, 12 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

Shirley is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James Bender, daughter, Patricia Barath, and sisters; Cecile Hlebasko and Dolores Burns.

Shirley's visitation will be held on August 23, 2023 from 5:00-8:00pm at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, 207 S. Main Street, Manteno, IL 60950. Her mass will take place on August 24, 2023 at 10:30 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church , 207 S. Main Street. Manteno, IL 6095.
