

A native of Gulfport, Mississippi, Mrs. Tarpley was born on November 1, 1943 the daughter of the late Carl Seldon and Hattie Irene Hood Miller. She had lived most of her life in Kennesaw and had served over 20 years as a kindergarten teacher at Kennesaw Day Care. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was a very active member of the Live Oak Baptist Church in Aragon, Ga. She was married to William R. Tarpley who survives.
Survivors include her husband, William R. Tarpley. Two daughters, Tina (Charley) Armstrong and Julie Ann Tarpley. One son, William Douglas (Heidi Leigh) Tarpley. Three brothers, J.C. Miller of Aragon, Stephen Dale Miller of Florida, and Douglas Miller of Powder Springs. Three sisters, Carolyn Prewett of Marietta, Sue Smith of Acworth and Phyllis Wilbur of Acworth. Five grandchildren, Timothy (Stephanie) Tarpley, Bailey Armstrong, Cody Armstrong, Makenzye Tarpley, Timber Tarpley. Two great grandchildren, Emery Arianna & Braxton Grant Tarpley.
Funeral services for Mrs. Tarpley will be conducted on Sunday March 8, 2015 at 2 p.m. from the Live Oak Baptist Church with Rev. Anthony Osborn and Rev. Stevie Waddell and her grandson, Bailey Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Ridge Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
On Sunday, Mrs. Tarpley will be carried to the church to lie-in-state from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.
The following nephews will serve as active pallbearers and they include; Billy & Eric Prewett, Stephen Miller and Brandon and Kevin Smith and Cam Wilbur. Honorary pallbearers will consist of members of the Women’s Sunday School Class of Live Oak Baptist Church.
