Vern "Pete" Peterson

Vern F. Peterson “Pete”, age 93 of Acworth, passed away on April 22, 2013. Vern was born on January 11, 1920 in Syracuse, NY. Preceding him in death was his loving wife, Ruth Emma LaBoue Peterson. He is survived by his children; Susan Blackwell and husband Kenneth of Duluth, Jeffrey Peterson and wife Linda of East Cobb, Glenn Peterson and wife Lynn of Acworth and Cindy Arnold and husband Jay of Jasper. Pete was a proud grandfather, having twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren to cherish along with nieces and nephews. Vern was a Decorated War Veteran, receiving two Distinguished Flying Crosses along with other awards flying in both World War II and the Korean War. He had the honor of serving in both the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Air Force. After leaving the service Pete flew for Lockheed Martin as an Engineering Test Pilot for 20 years until his retirement in 1973. He was a kind and generous man and touched many lives during his time on earth. Family and friends will forever miss him. A Memorial Service will be held 4:00pm on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, GA (770-422-7299). Visitation at 2:30pm with service at 4:00pm.
