David Finn, of Woodstock, GA, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 21, 2014. Born on October 31, 1951, he is the son of the late Walter and Lois Finn of Elkton, MD, and is survived by his beloved fiancee Martha Reed and her son Christopher Reed. David was the oldest of five children, Mark Finn (Mary Ellen Skinkle) of Baltimore, MD, Mickey Finn (Mary Jane Finn) of North Potomac, MD, Marilyn Finn (Chuck Welch) of New Market, MD, and Susan Brisee (John Brisee) of Hackettstown, NJ. He is also survived by three nephews, Corey Brisee of New York, NY, Joseph Finn of Arbutus, MD, and Thomas Finn of North Potomac, MD.
David is a 1970 graduate of Elkton High School (MD) and 1974 graduate of the US Naval Academy. He served as a naval flight officer and was stationed in Pensacola, Guam, and Corpus Christi. Following his Navy career, he worked as an aerospace engineer for Lockheed Martin (Burbank, CA, and Marietta, GA), from which he retired in 2010. David was a three-sport athlete in high school, excelled collegiately as a USNA intramural quarterback, and maintained a life-long enthusiasm for competitive sports at all levels. He was also a trivia buff and enjoyed photography, card games, storytelling, and a good joke. David will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at St. Andrews Chapel at the United States Naval Academy, 121 Blake Road, Annapolis, MD, 21402, on Monday, June 16th, at 2:00 pm. Inurnment will follow the service at the USNA Columbarium.
