

It is with profound sadness, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, brother, father, cousin, and nephew Manitou Makwa (Spirit Bear) Aaron Steven-Lee Paypompee of the Bizhiw clan (Lynx), son of Valerie Gwen Paypompee and Allen Garnet Paypom, from Naotkamegwanning FN, who passed away on January 31st, 2026 at the age of 36.
Aaron is survived by his parents Valerie, Allen, and family close friend Robert, his children, Sammi (Lucy), Unytez, and stepdaughter Lyndi. Sibling Russell with extended siblings Tyrone, Brent, Jordan, Mathew, Myrna and Dawn.
Aaron is predeceased by his partner Rae-Anne Felicia Dawn Wesley, grandparents Barbara/Russell Paypom, Dorothy Paypompee/Stephan Blackhawk, uncles Samuel, Preston, Casey Sr., aunts Rose, and Rosalind.
Aaron was deeply loved by his aunt Ruth (Roger), uncle Steven (Audry). Cousins Barbie, Paradise (Ryan), River, Tracey, Kiersten, Hayden, Natalya, Warren, Christopher, Casey Jr., Peter, Samuel Jr. (Paige), Shann (Kayla) Sena, Dawson, Amanda (Bobby), Alicia (Kyle)with extended family of nieces and nephews as many to
include, and extended friends.
Aaron Paypompee was born on September 14, 1989 in Winnipeg. Aaron was known for his kindness, humor, creativity, determination, and brought joy to those who knew him. In his early years, he enjoyed a game of chess and slowly grew back into his hobbies of art in drawing and tattooing. Aaron enjoyed connecting to music with his guitar. Aaron was on a path of cultural belief, understanding and acknowledging a new life forum. His smile, laugh, spirit would brighten your day, Aaron will be missed greatly and remembered always.
Wake services will be held on Thursday, January 12th, 2026 beginning at 2:00pm at Peshigoneb Community Hall in Naotkamewanning FN with traditional services held Friday, January 13th, 2026 at 10:00am. With elder Laura Horton officiating the traditional services. We ask ribbon skirts be worn during this time, Miigwetch.
