With her family by her side, Juanita Agnes Marie Burns (nee Wolfe) of Kenora, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Lake of the Woods District Hospital, at the age of 70 years.
Anita was born to her parents Agnes Larson and Walter Wolfe on March 26, 1948 in Dance, Ontario.
Anita is predeceased by her daughter Tammie Lynne Burns, her parents Walter Wolfe and Agnes Larson, brother Bob Lloyd and sisters Silvia and Bernice, her partner John Honzatko who fulfilled her wish to travel across Canada from Coast to Coast. Anita is also predeceased by her extended family Marie and Kas Dziedzic whom she fondly called Ma and Pa.
Survived by daughter Liz Garrow (Curtis Garrow), and her two granddaughters Cierra and Sarayah Garrow, Ashley Burns, Craig Amell and Margie Wolfe, siblings Anna Roulston (Donny), Eddie Pashko (Heather) and Sharon Nickle (Lloyd). Many nieces and nephews and great nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends.
At the young age of 17 Anita moved to Winnipeg Manitoba where the Dziedzic family welcomed her with open arms.
Anita worked for many years for the Ho Ho Cafe, and then the Log Cabin Tavern. To this day she remained close to all her work family.
Anita was well known for riding around on her red scooter, everyone commented how they would see her zipping along with no care in the world, she loved the independence it gave her. Anita even got stopped by the OPP a couple of times for speeding, yes she loved to go full throttle. People often shared their experience on facebook showing Anita going through the drive-through at Tims and McDonalds, it often got her a free coffee. She loved the fact that she was “Facebook Famous”. She loved sharing that story.
Anita loved her grandchildren to the moon and back and was instrumental in the young adults they have become today. Anita was happiest when she had someone to care for, she was always caring for others.
Anita loved to cook as there was no shortage of perogies and cabbage rolls, along with her famous apple and blue berry pies. Anita loved home-made bbq burgers and fresh fish (Walleye) she always knew when Dave, Curtis and Liz went fishing and even called while on the lake to make sure we were catching something.
Anita participated in the Community Wellness Program for many years, helping her keep her mobility through exercising and events. This was also an opportunity for her to socialize with her friends she made through Community Wellness.
This last year Anita was struggling with many health issues, and in a lot of pain closer to the end. Anita was missing Tammie and consistently talking about her. Mom is pain free now and I can see them now riding off on their scooters together.
