Arne "Vern" Broten

It is with heavy hearts that the family announce the sudden passing of Arne “Vern” Broten at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital with his loving wife by his side on April 18, 2011. He was 66 years old.

Vern was born February 18,1945 in Kenora, Ontario. He was educated at Lakewood School and Beaver Brae. He was also a sargeant in the 645 Squadron RCAC.

Vern loved Kenora and never dreamed of living somewhere else.

He was predeceased by his parents Arnie and Agnes Broten and his older brother Russell.

He will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 27 years, Louella and their two children, Jonathan and wife Arianne, Jeremy and precious grandson Jacob and his younger brother “Bill” and family (wife Suzie and sons Erik, Joey and Thor).

Equally devastated and saddened are numerous cousins, aunties, nephews, nieces, friends, former co-workers, sisters and brothers-in-law and mother-in-law Luisa dela Rosa.

Vern worked mostly in construction and enjoyed the outdoors. His passions were fishing and hunting. He took pride in teaching his boys the kinds of outdoor activities like camping, target practice, snow machining and fishing.His boys were his life and lately his grandson. He was man of few words but made friends for life. He was a loyal friend and had a soft heart.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre.
