Carol Eileen Smith – YaYa

August 3, 1947 – June 18, 2016

It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Eileen Smith after a long, strong and courageous battle against cancer.

Carol passed away peacefully on June 18, 2016 at the age of 68. Carol is survived by her husband and best friend of 51 years Robert (Bob) Smith; daughter Paula (Patrick) James, son Dean (Jana) Smith and YaYa’s pride and joy; her grand-daughters Samantha and Rylee.

She has also left to mourn her brother Don (Laura) Landry, sister Diane Wilder; nieces Crystal, Tara (Kevin), Carly, great-nephew Jarod and her uncle Arnold Langner of Edmonton.

Carol was predeceased by her parents Oscar and Margaret Landry; father and mother-in-law Joseph and Pauline Woloshin, sister Noella Henton-Perchyshyn and brother-in-law John Wilder.

We would like to thank Dr. Beveridge and the wonderful nurses in the chemo department for their continued care and dedication. You have made a most difficult journey a little more bearable. Dr. B, Kandice, Tina, Jessica, Holly and Carolyn – YaYa thought the world of you all.

Sheila George, Louise Bowen, Shirley Shaw, Pat Duggan and Gaelyn Lax, your visits and phone calls brighten up her day.

Following Carol’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Chemotherapy Department.

Rest in peace YaYa there will be no more pain.

We will always love and admire you. You are the love of my life.
