It is with heavy hearts that the family of Will LeCain announce his passing. Will has left us to join his favorite people; his Dad (Bill LeCain) and Mom (Joan LeCain) on April 19, 2018 at the age of 60.
Will was born in Kenora, ON on October 16th, 1957. He was predeceased by this parents Bill and Joan LeCain, his Grandparents Harry and Lena LeCain, Wes and Laura Reid.
He is survived by his ex-wife and mother of his daughters Cindy Vergunst; his daughters Jen Carlson (Chris) and Chelsea Socholotuk (Trevor) and 5 beautiful grandchildren Charlie, Maggie and Beth “EJ” Carlson and Hadley and Gavin Socholotuk. His sister Deb Coulis, nephews and nieces, Ryan (Deb); Tyler (Kolee); Jacquie (Caleb); his best friend and partner Mary Mamakeesic as well as many great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Will grew up in Lakeside and attended school in Kenora. Will was naturally gifted in the field of electrical work and became an electrician directly out of High School. He spent a number of years working for the family business at LeCain and Jordan Electricians and later with other electrical companies in Kenora & Manitoba.
Will was very social, and believed in community. Over the years he followed in his grandparents footsteps and was a member of the Lion’s Club; The Kenora Curling Club and the Kenora Golf and Country Club. In more recent years his favorite pastimes were spending time on LOTW fishing with his good friend Pete, tinkering in the garage and listening to music.
Will’s infectious smile; big heart; quiet demeanor and dry sense of humor kept us all entertained throughout his life. Will grew up on LOTW, and some of his happiest memories were made while out at Wedebijo Island (Nan’s Camp), spending quality time with family and friends. Family was the core of his strength, and when his grandchildren came along, he was in his glory and would never arrive for a visit without treats in hand.
The loss of “Wee Willy, Dad, Papa”, leaves a void in our hearts. We will hold onto all of our memories and continue to share stories. There was an intimate family gathering in celebration of Will’s life on Monday, April 23. Will was never shy to share a smile, handshake or a hug with whoever crossed his path. In lieu of flowers or donations, please take a moment to share a smile and hug those that are close to you. Online condolences can be made at www.brownsfuneralhomekenora.com .
A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says, “Grieve not for me.”
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.
The good life I lived while I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.
Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions, no matter how small.
Go on with your life, don’t worry about falls.
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin.
Until the day comes we’re together again.
