Dave was predeceased by his parents David 'Dyke' and Marguerite McKie. Sisters Joan Sanderson, Ethel McDonald and Annie Rae Valenta. Son Gordon McKie and daughter Cheryl McKie Boychuk.
He is survived by his wife Wanda, sister Mary Jane Fleming, brother Mike McKie. He is also survived by his step daughter Sharon Corfe, step son James McIntosh, grandsons Zachery, Jordon, Layton, Spenser Aiden and great grandson Wyatt.
Dave was born on a small island on Lake of the Woods and proudly raised in Keewatin. He served in the Canadian Army Militia from 1964 to 1966.
Dave was a 45 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Through the Legion he played on a dart team, that had him traveling across Canada playing the game he loved. When he gave up playing on a team he would play darts in his basement every Friday night with Barry Hardy, Cory Larson and John Valenta. Fun was had by all.
Dave worked for 28 years at Pinecrest Home for the Aged and retired from there at the age of 56. After he retired he became an avid gun club member, often going out to the range to target practice.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at the Rideout Community Club starting at 1:00 pm.
The family would like to thank the Doctor's and Nurse's of 2 East, for the wonderful care they provided Dave. We would also like to thank Char Melillo for her support and caring of not only Dave but the family as well.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.brownfuneralhomekenora.com for the McKie family.
