Derek Everett Redsky

March 28, 1971 - March 17, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce Derek Redsky, resident of Shoal Lake 40 First Nation has passed away and entered into Glory at the age of 54 years in his home Tuesday.March.17/2026.

Derek leaves to mourn his son's Grant, and Paul Michaud. He also leaves to mourn his youngest brother Shaun (Elaine) their daughters Sherri and Amelia (Jerome) and their daughters Makara and Kerris. His nieces Monique her children Tyrin, Kylie, Shantae and Myla. Melissa her children Yasmine Raffles and Niibin Bigcanoe. His nephew Dwayne (Trina) and their son Emerson.

He was predeceased by his wife Priscilla Fair, his parents Lloyd Redsky SR. and Julia Redsky, and his oldest brother Lloyd Jr.

Derek was always a nature hiker for many years, he would leave home on a 2 week standby shift in Waugh, Mb on foot while pulling a sleigh full of groceries on cold winter mornings. He had been walking a long bush trail that led him to work for many years which would later become a part of the Freedom Road into Manitoba. He loved his music and rock ballads. Van Halen was a household name and eventually stood in a bar where their frontman David Lee Roth was standing. Derek was very imitated by Dave's appearance and looked at Derek with his shades and then looked the other way. He felt like Dave was going to give him a 'roundhouse kick' which he would laugh about for years. Derek was a very polite person to everyone that were in his life and also very generous. A good sense of humor and was fun to joke against. He treated every single person with respect, a man with a mind as sharp as a tack. He was also very spiritual and for a number of years he and his brother Shaun would share insight and wisdom about spiritual life.

Derek will be missed greatly by all those that came into his life and knowing that he was very thankful for everyone that knew him and those he'd have met over the years.

Wake will be held at the Shoal Lake 40 Band office Gym 3:00pm Friday, March 27, 2026. Funeral service will be at Shoal Lake 40 Band office Gym 11:00am
