Donald Moore Young

April 16, 1932 - April 7, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing in the early morning of Tuesday April 7, 2026, Donald Young aged 93, a resident at Gardner Place in Kenora.

Don was born on April 16, 1932 in Montreal Quebec to Robert and Nellie Young.

He was predeceased by his loving wife Stella, sister and brother-in law Jean and Wilfred Rattai, and nephew Doug Rattai; sister and brothers-in-law, Bernice and Cuzzie Literovich; and Johnny Bartkowiak.

He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter Kari Villa (Thomas) and their daughter Olivia; niece Pam Rattai (Gerry Rummery) who was like a daughter; and many nieces and nephews. Dad loved being a Papa and couldn’t wait to check the mail for new pictures of Livi.

Don grew up on the lake and spent summers on Coney Island. He was never far from the water, be it rowing with the Kenora Rowing Club in his younger years to spending as many weekends as possible out on the lake with close family friends. Later in life he could be found swimming laps early mornings, at the rec center.

He was very proud of being a Shriner and enjoyed taking Stella to the “dos”. He even rode the little motorcycle in the parade and circus!

Don took over the family business Young’s Glass from his father and later worked at Donny B’s in the service department.

Dad’s wishes were to be cremated.
