September 25, 1928 – March 17, 2026
Edra Jean Lougheed, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on March 17, 2026, at the age of 97.
Edra was born in 1928 in Unity, Saskatchewan, to John and Isabelle Murray. She married Orval Lougheed in 1949, and together they began building a life on their farm in Barwick, Ontario, where they started their family. In 1966, they relocated to Kenora, where Edra worked alongside her husband in the logging industry.
She will be lovingly remembered by her four sons: William (Charlotte), Glen, Grant (Lorette) and Les (Ellen). Edra was a proud grandmother to Stacey (Lawrence), Lana-Rae (Michael), Kristi (Steve), Graham (Laura), MacKenzie (Cyndall), Ian, Emily (Ben), Nolan (Sarah) and Erin, and a cherished great-grandmother to sixteen great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her son-in-law, Morley, brothers-in-law Raymond Stewart and Robert Judson, sisters-in-law Donna Stewart, Dorothy Lougheed and many nieces and nephews.
Edra was predeceased by her loving husband, Orval in 2008, and her beloved daughter, Jeanne in 2021.
She was a loving mom, grandma, and great grandma whose quick wit and playful sense of humour kept everyone smiling. She cherished time outdoors, found beauty in the simplest moments of nature, and poured her heart into crafting, creating things as thoughtful and special as she was.
She lived a long and full life, marked by her deep love for family, quiet strength, and kind spirit that touched many. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Pinecrest Home for the Aged for the compassionate care they provided over the past several years.
At Edra’s request, no service will be held. A private family gathering will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to A Dog’s Life or a charity of one’s choice.
