Eileen Gertrude Goold

Passed away, peacefully on Tuesday January 23, 2018 at Birchwood Terrace in Kenora.

Eileen was one of 5 children born to Wilfred and Mary Helen Gourley. She made her debut on February 8th 1924, in Depew, Ontario. Being the daughter of a CPR Station Master took her to many locations throughout Ontario. The family settled in Britt, Ontario, where they spent many years surrounded by extended family.

As a young woman, Eileen obtained her hairdressing certificate and worked as a hairdresser throughout the war years.

After the war she married Joseph Goold and they relocated to Houston BC, where they were surrounded by her new extended family, and they started a family of their own.

Years later Eileen and Joe relocated back to Sudbury, and then to Aliston, before moving their 7 children to Kenora, Ontario.

Eileen loved travel and adventure and would pack up her kids and travel across Canada visiting family, friends and camping along the way, creating fabulous memories for all.

Eileen was an excellent seamstress, knitter and baker, and her hands were rarely idle. A rest time for Eileen was making homemade donuts for us to snack on during our many hours of card games.

When not busy with her family Eileen kept busy volunteering for various organizations, Scouts, CWL, Hospital Auxiliary, CNIB, funeral catering, and helping anyone who was in need of assistance. She also enjoyed time with her friends that often left her coming home in the wee hours after “several” games of cards.

We have no doubt that Eileen is now surrounded in the loving arms of all the numerous family and friends that have gone before her, and of course the Lord God, Holy Mother, and the many Saints whom she kept with her every day.

Left to cherish her love, faith and wisdom are her children, Mary Ellen Bangma; Suzanne Davies (Simon); Pat Goold (Leah); Michael Goold (Debbie); Tim Goold (Jeannie); Maureen Goold; Kelly Goold, and 17 beautiful grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Wake and Funeral services will begin at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Monday January 29, 2018 at 7:00 PM and Funeral Service will be held at Notre Dame Church, on January 30, 2018 at 10:30 AM.
