

Elinor (Nell) Lemay (nee Crossland)
With sadness we announce the passing of Nell on March 28th, 2016, at Pinecrest District of Kenora Home for the Aged.
She was born in Kenora on April 3rd, 1927.
Nell was predeceased by her loving husband of 68 years, Romeo, her parents, Dan and Ellen Crossland, brother Dan (in World War II), sister Marjorie and her husband Norman White, brother-in-law Jack Beckworth, half-sister Helena Canfield, brother-in-law Gord Brooker, 2 step sister-in-laws Juliet Enwright and Angela Goerin, sister-in-law Aurea Schisen, Nonie Brooker and Jeanette Biglow, brother-in-law Ernie Lemay, son-in-law Michael Kowalenko.
She leaves to mourn her daughter Susan and grandson Stuart, daughter Jane (Chris VanWalleghem) and grandsons Clint (Jess), Curtis (Cara), Craig (Marianne) and two precious great grandchildren Shai and Jaden together with sister Dorothy Beckworth, and brother-in-law Medric Lemay (MaryEllen) numerous nieces and nephews and all the Canfield families.
She attended school in Winnipeg and Kenora.
In 1946 she married Romeo Lemay of Norman. They enjoyed many years of travelling and spending winters in Florida.
Nell worked at Jackson’s Bakery and Tilley’s Pharmacy for many years.
Nell was happiest cooking in her kitchen in Keewatin. If you were sick you could count on her to bring a casserole dish or homemade soup. Her dainties were the best. She was a volunteer with Brownies and Girl Guides in Keewatin and the Senior Centre.
Immediate cremation has taken place.
A private interment to follow at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery.
In honor of Nell, a donation to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
