Frederick Earl Galbraith, a resident of Kenora, Ontario passed away on January 31, 2026 at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
He was predeceased by his parents Janette and Richard Galbraith, his siblings Allen Galbraith, Raymond Galbraith, Gordon Galbraith, Melvin Galbraith, Margaret Roberts, Betty Ellman and his son Daniel Galbraith.
He is survived by his children John Galbraith and Judy Armstrong, along with 5 grandchildren (Jennifer, Valerie, Shelly, Kelsey, Tyrone.), 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Frederick Earl Galbraith was born in Fort Frances Hospital on February 27, 1934.
Fred grew up on a farm in Lavallee, Ontario as the middle child in his family. He had many stories of skiing to school to start the fire in the classroom and checking his trapline on the way. Moving abroad as a teenager doing various jobs of cab driver, truck driver etc…, he finally resided in Kenora where he worked at the Tire shop, as a bus driver, at the Flour Mill, and finally settled at Boise Cascade Pulp and Paper mill, later called Abitibi until he retired.
He had many hobbies that included Farming on Essex Road, he was a member of the Kenora Flying Club, trapping at Echo Lake, and dancing in Emo at the Legion. Traveling to Puerto Rico and also later spending time in the winters in Laughlin as well as each summer a trip to BC. He was a member of the Bird watcher’s association, hunting with and visiting with his dear friend Harry, He enjoyed fishing and ice fishing with many stories to tell.
At the age of 91 he was still playing crib and spending time with his grandchildren, driving to Fort Frances to see his dancing partner; traveling partner; and sweetheart; Irene. Fred enjoyed feeding his birds and ducks and sitting on his swing enjoying the lake while having company that stopped by when he was home.
He will be deeply missed by all.
Celebration of Life will be held at Black Sturgeon in the summer of 2026.
