In loving memory of Garry Heron, Garry passed away peacefully at Pinecrest Home supported by his family.
Garry was predeceased by his daughter Carol Heron April 21st, 1991, and his wife of 57 years Phyllis (Blacklock) on December 8th, 2013.
He is survived by his daughter Colleen Heron, grandchildren Katrina Blackwell (Jay), Reagan O’Dea (Sean), Mike Wojtyniak (Gaby Centena), Natasha Gunderson-Wojtyniak (Adam) and great grandchildren Miya, Avery, Kenton, Anika, Nicolas and Rena. He is also survived by his son Barry Heron (Carey), grandchildren, Mathew Heron (Sara), and Nicole Heron and great grandchildren Elianna and Channing.
Also survived by his sisters, Betty Mossman (Robin), nephews, Mark (Laura) and family, Christopher and niece Shauna (Steve) and family, Bonnie Paul and niece Karen Hils (Ted).
Garry was born in Morden Manitoba on August 26th, 1933, and moved to Kenora with his family when he was a child. He met and married Phyllis Blacklock on February 11th, 1956, where they started their family and raised their 3 children.
Throughout his years Garry had a love for music and singing where he was in a quartet and choir.
He spent most of his free time on Lake of the Woods and the family camp on Coney Island, where he enjoyed fishing. In his early years he worked for the railway, then he became an electrician with Ken-O-Kee, then he worked at Pinecrest Home until his retirement in 1999.
In his final 3 years, Garry resided at Pinecrest Home for the aged where the nursing staff became part of his extended family. On behalf of Garry’s family we would like to thank all the staff for their wonderful care and support.
