It is with great sadness we announce the passing of George Bunting at Lake of the Woods Hospital at March 3, 2020. Those who are left to cherish his memory are his siblings, children and grandchildren, Norman, James and Mary Bunting, Rocky and Gretchen, Terry, Roxanne, Rocky Jr., Kyle, Rochele , Rocki, Darlene and Larry, Deana, Jewel, Myles, Harvey and Santina, Dennie, Kristy, Autume, Kyler, Kylee, Kaylee, Colton, Logan Brandon and Judy, Michelle, Brandy, Brandice, Jennifer and Michael, Celeste, Brennan, Dallas, Dave and Cheyenne, Lakiesha, Egan, Emry, Erro, Adrian and Melanie, Avery, Valentina, Alana, Fayla, Freedence Ronnie, Brody, Ariana and Abby Bunting; his great grandchildren, (Terry & Melissa): Keith, Cherish, Riyan, Niigaun, Keewayten-Anung, Zaagaate, Zookiphon and Maka; (Roxanne & Frederick): Kaidence, Aaliyah, Andrew, Kreed, Cedar and Sage; (Dennie & Allanah): Hailee, Sherea, Kaillen, Kesler, Paislee, Seneca and Nolyn; (Kyler): Kyla Michaud and Suraya Starr; (Deana): Ryland Henry, Kobi, Justice, Jerome, Kali and Chevyonne; (Rochele & George): Reiden, Hayden and Madison; (Rocki & Steve): Dylan Kejick; (Kyle & Lyndsey): Kyra-Jo, Taylee, Liam and Emmy-Jo; (Rocky Jr & Priscilla): Kendrix and Kathy; (Kristy & Gerald): Nevaeh, Latrelle and Ally; (Autume): Calliah and William; (Celeste): Blake Hunter-Greene; (Myles & Shelley): Patrick and Delilah; great great grandchildren, (Ryland): Kai Lavand and too many to mention nieces, nephews and relative friends. George is predeceased by his parents, James and Ida Bunting; his siblings, John, Gordon and Josephine; His grandparents, Jacob and Annie McDonald; his aunts, Grace Henry and Alice Fisher; his uncles, Cornelius, Simon and George McDonald; his daughters, Hushie, Annette, Elizabeth Wesley; his nieces and nephews, Barrett, Allison and Baby Bunting, his grandchildren, Felicia Hunter, Nolan Bunting, Noah Bunting and Jerald McDonald; and great grandchildren, Mikeal, Sarah, Baby Bunting and Baby Bunting; and his cousins, Art, George and Cyrena McDonald and Sharon McDonald. Our dad and husband lived in Wabaseemoong most of his life, in his early life he worked for; Guiding for K.C.R. Camp, Halley's Camp, Caribou Falls; Senior Family Worker for Ojibway Tribal Family Services; First Nation Police Constable. George loved fishing, yard sailing with his wife, road trips and playing hockey and coaching hockey. He was a great addition to the Advocate Program and he enjoyed being active with community planning. He had a lot of experience to share. We forget to take direction from our elders. He was instrumental in laying the foundation in community programming. George’s lifelong passions were being a long time hockey player for the Whitedog Huskies and Flyers. George was also a long time coach of the One Man Lake Canadians, his love and passion for the game was passed down to his sons and then to his grandchildren and now to his great grandchildren. It was said that one of George's happiest times was when Wabaseemoong finally got their own arena. Miigwetch to our dear family members Candi, Elaine (Shkoo) and Harvey Bunting for being there with us throughout our time of hardships. Expressing our gratitude to the Doctors and Nurses at Lake of the Woods District Hospital – Emerge, ICU Department, Hostel Unit on 3rd Floor. A wake service at will take place at George’s residence, 1st House, East End, Bunting Road, First Nations Whitedog on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at 4 p.m. A Traditional Service will take place on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mizakiiwetung Memorial School. Officiated by: Mary Jane Scott. Burial to follow service.
