It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, auntie and friend Gloria Bird at the age of 74 years.

Gloria is predeceased by her father, Alex Bird and mother Genevieve Bird and sisters Mary Agnes, Laura, Grandson Gregory Skead, cousins Jean (He-He) Medicine and William (Jaay-oh) Bird.

She will be lovingly missed by her brother David, daughter Genieve (Kess), step-daughter Sally Skead, Granddaughter Shannon (Trevor), Jeremy, Kyler, step-grandchildren, Nicole, Kim, Alexandria, Megan and Joshua; also great-grandchildren Myles Gregory and Alexa as well as 10 other great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She will be missed by Elmer Fisher, Dawn Rose Ackabee and Bradley Fobister.

Gloria spent her early years in Naotkamegwanning First Nation and is a residential school survivor of St. Mary's. After IRS, Gloria later married and lived in Kenora, Ontario for a number of years, and had one child. She enjoyed working at various organizations. And recently moved back her home community of Naotkamegwanning First Nation. Gloria, loved reading her novels, listening to music, visiting family and friends. Wake services will be held at the home residence of David Bird on 2106 Westend Drive on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.

Traditional Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow.
