Harold Roy Kent
June 10, 1952 - April 6, 2014
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear loving friend Roy Kent who left us so suddenly.
He has gone home, to be greeted by his parents John and Elsie Kent and brother Gabriel Kent. He joins uncles and aunties from Whitedog, Whitefish Bay and Sagkeeng, MB. who left before him.
He leaves to mourn are his sisters Doris (Albert) Sally (Tim) Mable (Leslie) and Victoria. Also leaves his brother Roderick. He was an uncle to many nieces and nephews, too many to mention. Also left behind are many cousins whom he loved dearly and was loved by them, who he also considered as his brothers and sisters. Nephew to aunties and uncles from Whitefish Bay.
Roy loved spending every moment of his time with family, whether it was during happy moments or during their difficult time. Was always one that you can rely on for help and rarely asked for help in return as it was in his nature to always be a helping hand whether it was for family or friends. Many times he was one that you can talk to for hours and know that he listened to every word you said. He grew a friendship with the community nurse Kathleen Deschene who he always called Kathy and considered her as a band member of the community.
Roy loved travelling with family and friends to many pow wows in Ontario and Manitoba. Bingo was always a place for him to meet up with family & friends and enjoyed playing bingo and spending that time with them. He often travelled allot with family to go to casinos whether it was in Winnipeg or in the states. Playing GIN was also something he enjoyed at the community hall or at a friends or family's home. Blueberry picking was also a passion he had and usually spent that time with friends and family to tell stories. Earlier in life, he worked for many years at the Greenhouse before moving to brush cutting and helping with maintaining the campsites at Whitedog Falls and Caribou Falls.
Jokester to many, he often kept to himself, but once he got to know you, you'd be sure to share a laugh with him and always leave with a smile. He was one that would always love to laugh and often tease and joke. Immediate family members always called him aunty Roy and friends started picking up on that and started calling him that as well.
Family would like to say Meegwetch to the Doctor and Nurses at the Health Sciences Centre. Meegwetch also to the Doctors and Nurses at the Lake of The Woods District Hospital. Whitedog nurses Kathleen and Sonia. Thank you also to Treaty 3 Police Service for helping in the past with getting medical attention, and thank you to the Wabaseemoong First Response Team when they helped. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal when someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure - our treasure Harold Roy Kent.
