Helen Piotrowski (nee Kochie) passed away peacefully at the Lake of
the Woods District Hospital on Monday, February 02, 2009 at the grand
age of 97. Mother would have celebrated her 98th birthday on April 17.
Helen is survived by Marian, her husband of 42 years; brother Bill
Kochie (Pat), daughters Viola Dika, Elizabeth Longe (Fred), Margaret
Lee (Daniel), Lillian February, special niece Joyce Hertz (Leo),
eleven grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and
nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Barbara and Steve Kochie, husband
Frank February, daughter Isabelle Longe, son Julius February and four
brothers and four sisters.
Helen was born in 1911 in Hazelwood, Saskatchewan and lived in
Porcupine Plains on the family farm from 1930 - 1948. In 1948, Helen
and Frank moved the family to Kenora where they built and ran Motel
58. Helen married Marian Piotrowski in 1966.
Helen was an active member of the Knox United Church and the New
Horizons Centre. Mom enjoyed 5 pin and carpet bowling,
shuffleboard, crafts and singing in the seniors choir. She loved to
travel but put the most mileage in her garden. Her lovely sense

up to her.
