1948 - 2012
With his wife by his side, Jim passed away peacefully, Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Joanne (nee Lavergne), who was beside him every step of the way through Jim's brief battle with cancer. Jim will also be remembered by his two sisters, and his brother. His step-children: Bonnie (Alberta), Brad and Melissa, (British Columbia) and Veronica (Winnipeg, Manitoba). Jim was predeceased by his parents, Stan and Trudy Crook. Last of all, Jim will be sadly missed by his "furry children", Cookie and Karley, Jim's companion cats.
Jim was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba September 28, 1948. He was raised in Kenora and moved to Winnipeg for many years. Jim returned home to Kenora four years ago and led a full and colourful life with those he loved and cared for. He enjoyed nature hikes and he loved his walks to town. Jim would meet his friends for coffee at Ho Jo's and Zellers he made many lifelong friends.
Jim loved music, sports, nature, animals and those he shared his life with. He was an eclectic individual with whom you could always talk to. About three and a half years ago there was a twinkle in Jim's eyes as he saw Joanne waiting for the morning bus. A relationship blossomed and September 14, 2012, Jim and Joanne (nee Lavergne) exchanged their vows to become man
and wife.
A Celebration of Jim's Life will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Jubilee Church of God, 215 First Street South. Thank you all who shared in Jim's life.
