

Jan Mischuk
Jan Mischuk, of Kenora, died peacefully with her family by her side, on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Jan was a lifelong resident of Kenora and married Stan Mischuk in November, 1949.
Jan was pre-deceased by her husband Stan (2002) and sister Helen Korba (2016). Jan is survived by her daughters, Chris (Peter) and Carole (Dave). She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Rob (Su), Jill (Steve), Kaley (Mark), Jeff and Mark. She was also a special Great Nana to Nathaniel, Lauren, Michael, Mason, Ella, Holly and Gwendolyn.
Jan graduated at the young age of 16 from the Kenora High School and received the “Best All Around Commercial Student” award. Upon graduation Jan spent a short time in Ottawa with the Civil Service before relocating to Toronto where she spent several happy years working for an American company.
She returned to Kenora in 1948 and took a position at the paper mill office. After her marriage to Stan she focused on raising their two daughters. Jan loved to cook, tend to her gardens and always had an open door for her many friends. As her family grew, Jan returned to the work force and spent many happy years at Ken’s Storage.
She was a lifelong member of Notre Dame Catholic Church and the CWL. Her faith was of the utmost importance to her. Her whole life was centred around her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her pride in her family was evident every day of her life. She will also be remembered for her generosity and quick wit.
Special thanks is extended to all of her special care givers, both at Gardner Apartments and Pinecrest and to her companions, Sandy and Pat.
Funeral Mass will be held held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Pinecrest Home for the Aged with Father Rudy Manaloto officiating. Internment was at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery.
