Lachlan Sidney Coonan, a resident of Pinecrest Home for the Aged passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, August 20, 2018 at the age of 97. It is with heartfelt gratitude that his family appreciate the kindness and professional care given to Lachlan.
Lock was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia to parents Elsie and Daniel Coonan. He excelled at sports and particularly enjoyed football and cricket. During WWII Lock fought in New Guinea on the infamous Kokoda Trail and then the Soloman Islands.
After the war he travelled to the U.S. and Canada. In Windsor, Ontario he met and married Mary (Fitz-Gerald) from Kenora. They returned to Australia where daughters Geraldine and Bambie were born. Upon returning to Canada, his third daughter, Teresa was born in Kenora.
Lock worked in Kenora at the Post Office until the family moved to St. Catharines and then to Sarnia. Once retired he and Mary enjoyed winters in Arizona and summers on Coney Island.
Lock enjoyed playing and following sports such as cricket, golf, lawn-bowls, table-tennis, baseball and had a keen interest in cars and motorcycles.
Lock was predeceased by his wife Mary, daughter Teresa, sister Peggy (Slater) and his parents Elsie and Daniel.
He is survived by his daughters Geraldine (Chris) Bodker and Bambie (Denys) Brennan, his grandchildren and great grandchildren, his sister Betty (Quirk), nieces and nephews.
You will be missed, Dad.

A Graveside Service will be held at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 1:00 pm with Father Rudy Manaloto officiating.
A Come and Go Tea will be held at Pinecrest Home for the Aged from 1:30 – 3:30 pm with Pastor Robert Wittmeier officiating.
