It is great sadness we announce the death of our beloved Mother, on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at the age of 98.
Mom was born November 3, 1922 the first child of Ina and Charles Burgoyne of Keewatin. She was joined a few years later by her sister Josephine. Mom was a Keewatin girl through and through...until she married and became a Lakeside bride; but, her heart was always in Keewatin.
Mom worked at Zeal and Gold and later at Sutcliffe Agency for many years. After her retirement she enjoyed lunches with the "Sal Gals" and their friendships. Nan travelled to Hawaii many times with both family and friends and a trip to Spain and to Scotland.
Nan loved to golf and spent many hours out at Beauty Bay playing with friends. She loved watching curling, baseball and golf on tv. Mom was a lifelong member of the Kenora Lions Club.
Nana loved the lake and for years drove the wooden boat that Dad and Grandpa built. Nan loved life and family. Nothing made her happier than having her family in her home cooking supper for them. She missed doing this very much after she moved to the apartment.
Mom was predeceased by her husband John Nelson Allanson, her parents Ina and Charles Burgoyne, her in laws Dolly and John Allanson, her sister Josephine Klassen and brother in law Frank Klassen. Mom lost many friends over the years that she missed very much.
She leaves to mourn her passing John and Carolyn Allanson of Windsor, Ontario and Bill and Marilyn Allanson, Kenora, Ontario . Her beloved grandsons Tyler Allanson, Travis and Katie Allanson, Ryan and Sasha Allanson, Shawn Allanson and Cristella Blanchet and her great-grandchildren Andrew Allanson and Harrison and Christopher Blanchet. She also leaves her grand fur-baby Pebbles.
We want to thank the paramedics, emergency room nurses and Dr. T.J. Henderson, the nurses on second and Dr. Spencer for the amazing care you provided Nana and to Dr. Bowerman for his years of taking care of our mother. Thank you to the Benediction Court care workers for the care you took with Mom.
There will be no funeral at this time. Celebration of life will take place when family can come home. Donations in Moms memory can be made to Palliative Care.
Remember me with smiles,
If you remember me at all.
If you remember me with tears,
Don’t remember me at all.
Love Mom
To His Mother
‘Mother-in-law’ they say and yet,
Somehow I simply can’t forget
‘Twas you who watched his baby ways
Who taught him his first hymn of praise,
Who smiled on him with living pride
When he first toddled by your side
‘Mother-in-law’ but oh, ‘twas you
Who taught him to be kind and true,
When he was tired, almost asleep,
‘Twas to your arms he used to creep,
And when he bruised his tiny knee,
‘Twas you who kissed it tenderly,
‘Mother-in-law’ they say, and yet,
Somehow I never shall forget
How very much I owe
To you, who taught him how to grow
You trained your son to look above,
And so I think of that today,
Ah! Then with thankful heart I’ll say
‘Our Mother’
