Marvin Wayne Tom

Passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026, with his family by his side at the Lake of the Woods Hospital.

Marvin is survived by his wife Dorinda Tom and his children Tamara (Brennan), Carrie (Skyler), Darrin (Jane) and Gerald. His stepchildren Tatiana (Vince), Sara (Harley) Ethin and Laxmi (Jeremy).

He also leaves behind his beautiful grandchildren Shayla, Jeff, Kayleb, Malix, Talon, Aubree, Zaira, Danielle, Eric, Jordan, Kai, Trinity (Jayden), Constance, Marco (Jolene), Zeveah (Liam), Lamina, Elianna, Channing, Noella, Logan (Grace), Mercedes (Jason), Ferrari, Hilary and Burton.

His siblings Conrad, Phyllis (Daniel), and Gary (Lydia). He also loved all his aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marvin was predeceased by his parents Joseph Red Thunder Boy (Tom) and Elizabeth Tom, his baby brother Aaron Tom. Grandparents Charlie and Agnes Jack, Francis and Margaret Tom, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Marvin was a proud traditional Ojibwe from Naotkamegwanning First Nation. He worked as a Treaty 3 Police officer for 8 years. Before that he worked with Crisis Intervention for 19 years. He also worked at the Women’s Shelter as a family violence prevention coordinator.

Marvin spent his days watching Hockey, especially his favourite team the Boston Bruins! also baseball and football. He loved to go fishing and hunting. His love for golf was also his favourite pastime. His favourite accomplishment was when he got a hole in one. He always talked about it and was always so proud of that. He also loved to play baseball and hockey; he was a goalie in his early years.

We would like to thank the nurses and doctors at the Lake of the Woods Hospital; Mateo, Scoeta, Ctianna, Allen, Ruby, Lysil and Ashley, Dr. Harlos MCC, Dr. Salter, Dr. Kitbush, Dr. Kroeker and Charlene in Palliative Care. As well as the team at Winnipeg Health Science Center and Thunder Bay Regional Hospital for their great care. More thanks to the Crisis team, EMS team, Kenora Home Care Nurses, Naotkamegwaaning First Nation Health Centre and PSW.

Pallbearers will be Brennan, Skyler, Josh, Terry, Darren, Daniel (Tag) and Dennis.

Honourary Pallbearers: Daniel Pitchenese, Vince Gardner, Rob Tella, Stephan Mouland and Clint Fontain.

A Wake will be held on Sunday March 29, 2026, at 3:00pm and the Funeral will be held on Tuesday March 31, 2026, at the Pezhigoneb Centre at 10:00 am.

The traditional wake and funeral will be officiated by Elder Howard Copenace.
