A Come and Go Tea at Wayne and Judy’s at 401 Old Chalet Lane starting at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2017.
Born June 10th, 1929 and raised in Kenora, Murray passed away peacefully at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital November 24th, 2017.
He was predeceased by his parents James and Bertha and sister Juanita. He was the husband of 58 years to Gail (nee Sanna), and proud father to Judy (Wayne) Beckworth, Scott (Michelle) McRoberts and Charlene (Shaun) Clifford. His grandkids were the great love of his life Deanna, Steven, Murray, Melissa, Charles and Joshua along with several great grandchildren. For him his family was everything and he loved his family gatherings.
He worked as a grader operator for more than 45 years finally retiring from the Town of Kenora in 1994. He was also a commercial fisherman (Sanna Fisheries) for many years and took great pride in supplying many of the town’s restaurants and customers with fresh fish until the MNR bought out the license in 2002. The family island (Fog Island) on Lake of the Woods was where he was happiest and where he used the two custom barges he built by hand. He was also a talented blacksmith and fabricated many of the custom handrails around the city we still see today. He started by shoeing horses at Onerheims Blacksmith Shop. He truly was a man of many talents.
The family will be holding a small private family funeral at the cemetery. That will be followed by a Come and Go Tea at Wayne and Judy’s at 401 Old Chalet Lane starting at 3:00 p.m on Friday, December 1, 2017.
We would appreciate in lieu of flowers a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Canadian Cancer Society or A Dog’s Life in Murray’s name if you wish.
