It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Olga (Ollie) Mary Erickson, 91 years of age, on Sunday November 7, 2010 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital. Ollie passed quietly with her family by her side.

Ollie was the beloved Wife of Norman Erickson for over 70 years. She was the loving Mother of Bonnie Campbell (Brian), Ricky Erickson (Georgie), and Sharon Skillen (Ray). Ollie was also the much loved Grandmother of Shannon, Brian Jr., Ronnie, Sheldon, Rhonda, Kathy, Kelly, RaeAnne and Joey. She was blessed with 19 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and a special niece Joan Erickson.

Ollie was predeceased by her parents as well as her brothers Alec, Mike, Adam, Ray and her sisters Kate and Joey.

Ollie was born in Winnipeg in 1919 and moved to Kenora in 1936 where she met and married Norm. Together they shared a love of fishing and spent many days enjoying the lake. Ollie loved games of chance and enjoyed many trips to Club Regent, playing Bingo and the odd scratch ticket too. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Branch #12 for over 54 years and a founding member of their darts club. Ollie was well known as a green thumb and often grew extraordinary plants and flowers. Her geraniums are legendary.

At her request, cremation has taken place.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Knox United Church on Friday, November 12, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., with interment to follow at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery.

A reception will follow at the Knox United Church.

In honour of Ollie, donations to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital would be greatly appreciated by the family.
