August 31, 1948 - May 20, 2011
It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of our beloved Pat on Friday, May 20, 2011 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital. Surrounded by the love of her family, she quietly slipped away to join God and his Angels. Pat bore her illness with courage and dignity, she never once lost her ability to love, laugh and enjoy life.
She was predeceased by her mother Dee Hill and her dear friend Flo Wilcox. Left to mourn her memory are her husband Mike, daughters Tracie (Trevor) Wilson, Kim (Scott) Tittlemier, Crystal (Doug) Konaby - Tittlemier, father Stuart Hill, sister Lorrie (Dave) Horban and brother Joe Hill. Her grandchildren who were the joy of her life, Caitlyn, Kyle, Walker, Austin, Cordel and step-grandchildren Kiersten and Amber. Pat is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends who she loved dearly. She will also be missed by her pets Scamp, Winnie and Max.
Pat was born and raised in Kenora. After finishing her education she married Mike in 1966 and raised their family of three daughters. Their home was filled with music, laughter, pets, friends and love. As her children grew older Pat entered the work force and was employed at the Lake of tthe Woods Clinic with Dr. Earl Bryngelson who she greatly admired and later the Patterson Medical Centre for over 30 years. Her job was a large part of her life as were the doctors and their wives, her co-workers and last but not least, the patients.
Pat treated everyone with kindness and consideration and made many life long friends. Her compassion for the ill and elderly was not forgotten by those she helped. Truly Pat was an inspiration to all, she loved everyone.
Pat enjoyed the simple things in life, watching her grandchildren bowl and swim, going for long walks with her dog, caring for her home, garden and beautiful house plants. She treasured spending time with family and friends. Pat loved playing Bingo with her daughter and granddaughter and especially enjoyed taking the casino bus to Winnipeg with Flo, special friend Doris Joseph and brother Joe. It was the journey and not the game that counted. She enjoyed yard sales, thrift stores and shopping with her daughters and Lorrie. She had a great camping trip with her sister and brother-in-law which was the highlight of her last summer.
We would like to thank Dr. Beveridge, Dr. Pedersen, Jan Landseidel, and the nurses and the staff on the 3rd and 4th floor for their care and compassion during her battle with cancer.
A special thank you to Pastor Carol Lawson for the many hours spent with Mom. You gave her courage, strength and faith.
At Pat's request cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will be held for the family with Pastor Carol Lawson officiating. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later announced date.
Donations in Pat's memory can be made to the Cat Shelter. It's a Dog's Life or Rescue North. Pat loved all animals! To quote from one of Pat's writings is to sense the essence of this remarkable lady, "My love and faith in God enables me to never give up hope, accept whatever life gives me and courage to live day by day and appreciate all I have."
