With his family by his side, after a long battle Patrick Kesick, Makade Ma’iigan, a resident of Iskatewizaagegan passed away October 9, 2010 at the Lake of the Woods Hospital.
He will be dearly missed by his family, relatives, friends and many others he left behind to mourn.
He is survived by his siblings Stephen (Alice), Alex, Kathleen (Gus) and Marilyn ( Bobby); children Betty Jean (Dennis), Steven, Rupert, Walter, Patrick, Gregory; grandchildren April (Graham), Hartley, Lance (Nikky), Corey (Joy), Kirstie, Michael, Jenelle and Taylor; great grandchildren Graham, Emery, Cami, Cadence, Jori, Brooklynn and Collin.
Predeceased by his parents Freeman Letander and mother Margaret Letander, and beloved wife Alice Kejick.
Patrick was born at St. Joseph Hospital in Kenora and lived at Iskatewizaagegan most of his life. Patrick enjoyed sitting outside in the afternoon during summer and fall months. He had a great sense of humour even until the end. He knew when to be firm and when to be gentle.
He had nicknames for all his nephews, nieces and grandchildren. He was very positive to the very end. His presence will be missed dearly by everyone who knew him.
Family would like to thank everyone for the support they received during this difficult time. The Lake of the Woods District Hospital staff, intensive care unit staff, Linda Mandamin, first response crew Rhea Green and Marcel Green and special thanks to Fawn Wapioke and John Wapioke for going above and beyond the call of duty.
Traditional Ceremony, Wake and Funeral will be held in Iskatewizaagegan First Nation. Wake - Tuesday, October 12, 2010 beginning approximately 2:00 p.m.
