It’s heartbreaking to announce the sudden passing of our brother, uncle, nephew and a friend to many Roderick Kent (Namay Ni Todem).
He has gone home to the spirit world to be greeted by his parents John and Elsie Kent, brothers Gabriel Bob Kent, Harold Roy Kent, sisters, Victoria S, Doris Henry, Mable Muckle, uncles and aunts Jim Cowley, Pete C, John C, Jack C, Albert Cowley, Joey C, Frances Cowley, Isabell C and Mary C, Mary (Maurice) Muckle , Gladys (Robert) Muckle , Jack Kent, Josephine Kent, Frances K, William Kent, Mary Ann Muckle, Linda Muckle, Maurice JR. and Florence Carpenter, as well as many more relatives too many to mention.
He leaves behind to mourn his only sister Sally Burguss, nephews and nieces Derrick (Taylor), Hunter Joey H, George H, Johnathon (Brenna) Hunter, Virginia Kent, Donna Klenk (and family), William Henry (and family), Pauline Henry (and family), Patrick Henry (and kids), Rosaleen (Jimmy) Muckle, Clifford Muckle , Leslie M, Geoffrey M, his only uncle Fred Cowley, brother in law Albert Land and relatives in Whitefish Bay and Sagkeeng, MB.
All his cousins that were like brothers and sisters to him Philip (Gladys) Kent, Bruce M, Mercel M, Waylon Scott, Kenneth (Joy) Carpenter, Lillian C, Martha C, Mark C, Martin C, Pauline K, Jay, Calvin, Jackie, James, Marlyn, Annette Muckle, Charles M (Harriet Muckle), Mavis M, Wayne (Myra) Muckle and many more relatives too numerous to mention. His grandchildren and great grandchildren that he loved with all of his heart, who will miss him sadly, Alyssa, James, Melody, Javein, Ravey, Glenna, Andrew, Meaghan, Alanica, Aliisia, Dane, Roman.
Dotch was born and raised in Wabaseemoong. He loved spending time with family and friends John M, Robert C., Charles M., William Boyd. It was in his nature to always be helping others.
Meegwetch to the Paramedics and OPP for their assistance during this trying time, as well Harriet Chelsea, Myra and Linda for assisting with the daily chores around his house. Chi-meegwetch to the Chief and Council and the Mizhakiiwetung Memorial School for allowing Roderick’s traditional ceremony.
Pallbearers will be Charles M., Wayne M., Clifford M., Bruce, Barrie and Geoffrey.
A wake service will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Roderick Kent's Residence, 220 West End Drive, Whitedog, Ontario. A wake service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 10:00 am at Mizhakiiwetung Memorial School, Whitedog, Ontario. A traditional funeral service will be led by Mary Jane Scott and Daniel on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at 10:00 am at Mizhakiiwetung Memorial School, Whitedog, Ontario with interment to follow at Whitedog First Nation.
