Bullhead (Awaazisii) Clan
Born in Kenora, Ontario.
From Northwest Angle #33 (Dog Paw)
Stan was a humble, caring papa, father, and uncle. He would always make sure his grandkids felt protected and loved; he cherished them. He loved the lake, and he was a great fisherman. He was always on the go, taking care of his lawn and making custom furniture such as benches and chairs.
He would seek traditional guidance from the late Tommy White, the late Dorothy Paypompee, and Elder Langford Ogemah. Stan was a proud Midewin.
Stan was employed as a guide with Red Indian Lodge and Great Bear Lake, Northwest Territories; he also enjoyed wild rice picking and blueberry picking. He was also a Foreman in Housing for Northwest Angle #33, who worked with his nephew Yankee, Maverick, and son Ronald; he built numerous buildings within the community. Stan was also a hunter.
Back in the day, he would commute by boat to Angle Inlet to visit his parents, making stops to fish. Had many great stories to tell about his rides out on the lake. He loved taking his grandkids, daughters, sons, and his nieces and nephews fishing, also enjoyed a game of Horseshoes.
He is survived by his sons, Ronald (Leigh) and Stanford; daughters Debbie and Linda (Roman); grandsons, Christian, Lil Faron, Tsase, Darius, Laval, Derian, Kastin, and Geronimo; granddaughters, Ireland, Evangeline, Hayla, Loveine, and Rosemary. Nieces and Nephews: Yankee, Steven, David, Timmy, Darlene, Debbie, Caroline, Kathleen, Julie, Stephanie, Tina, Valerie, Geraldine, Loraine, Louise, Nancy, Karen, Patricia, Percy, and Jennifer. And great nieces and nephews, too many to mention.
Predeceased by his parents Jim Blackhawk and Winnie Blackhawk; brothers, Bobby Blackhawk, Donald Blackhawk, Frank Blackhawk, Ronni Blackhawk, Joseph Blackhawk and Stephan Blackhawk; sisters, Meta Blackhawk, Joyce Blackhawk and Nancy Blackhawk; daughter, Samantha Paypompee; grandson Castor Bird, and Nieces and Nephews; Samuel, Peter, Sheila, Marion, Grace, Elaine, Patrick and Bob.
His children want to thank the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital staff, Lake of the Woods District Hospital staff, Naotkamegwanning EMS, Shawendaasowin, Paramedicine, Northwest Angle #33, Ontario Community Care staff, and Mike Limerick, NP, for all their support. It means a lot for all the help our dad received.
