Vanessa passed away peacefully on Monday, June 12, 2017 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital.

She grew up in Whitefish Bay First Nation and later in life moved to Kenora, Ontario. She loved visiting and socializing with her many friends in town, especially with her one closest friend Molly Strong.

Most of all she deeply LOVED her recently departed common-law Don Ross and her three children, son Darnell Kelly, daughter Alexandra Powassin, (partner Rueben), grandchildren Jackson and Hayden.

She leaves behind her parents, Alice Kelly and Albert Cowley, sisters Anne Henry (Carl), Sandra Morrison (Pat), Carol Cowley, brothers, Douglas Kelly (Cindy), Derek Kelly and Melvin Cowley.

Vanessa is predeceased by her sisters Jessica and Tina, brother Dwayne and special friend Joyce Blackhawk, many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunties, uncles, relatives and friends.

Wake Service will begin on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at (Dalles) Ochiichagwe Babigo Ining First Nation.

Traditional Funeral Services will begin on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at the Dalles Cemetery.
