William Sutherland Strathdee

William Sutherland (Bill) Strathdee passed away at Birchwood Terrace Nursing Home on February 08, 2011 with beloved wife Hazel (nee Nickerson) by his side.

Bill was predeceased by former wife Estelle (nee Cameron) of Kenora and his three sisters, Lilias (Milt) Mitchell, Moosejaw, Nora (Art ) Williams, Regina; Margaret (Karl) Yaeger, of Brandon.

He is survived by daughter Saralee Hynes, Markdale, Ontario, grandson Thomas Hynes, wife Holly and two great grandchildren Tehya and Ryke, Collingwood, Ontario.

He is also survived by nieces Evelyn (Lorne) Bockhold, West Vancouver, Sally Kasenberg (Jack) and nephew David (Valerie) Williams, Victoria, B.C.

William will be sadly missed by sister-in-laws Irene Nickerson, Thunder Bay and Joan (Sidney) Forstrom, Vancouver, B.C. as well as many nieces and nephews from the Nickerson, Stuart and Forstrom clans.

Bill was born in Regina, Saskatchewan in 1914.

He attended U. of Manitoba where he graduated as an electrical engineer in 1938.

His entire career was with Union Carbide-Toronto, Winnipeg, Vancouver and Montreal. He retired to Kenora in 1965.

A private family service to be held February 13, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre.

Cremation has taken place with burial to follow at Lake of the Woods Cemetery at a later date.
