

Yvonne (Yve) Giesbrecht
October 26, 1924 – May 29, 2014
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Yvonne (Yve) Giesbrecht on May 29, 2014 with family at her side at Pinecrest Home for the Aged.
She is survived by sisters Alice Grant of Powell River, B.C. and Claire (Dave ) Dowling of Welton, Arizona, her children Richard Giesbrecht of Dryden, Christine (Chris) Wagenaar of Maple Ridge, B.C., daughters-in-law Betty Giesbrecht of Kenora, Phyllis Giesbrecht also of Kenora and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Yvonne is predeceased by her husband Peter and two sons Bob and Bill Giesbrecht, her parents Ethel and Joe Halley, siblings Henry Halley, Johnny Halley, Arthur Halley, Vanna (Francis) Polischuk, Ernie Halley, Bernice Sanderson and daughter in law Brenda (Francis) Giesbrecht.
Yvonne was born in International Falls on October 26, 1924 to Ethel and Joe Halley. Yve moved to Kenora with her parents as a child. Yve met Peter and they were married November 01, 1941 and spent 61 years together. They enjoyed spending time with their family volunteering, travelling out west to catch up with family and the many friends they made over the years. Yve enjoyed working at the Log Cabin Tavern, Weber Store and Bruce Girard’s Optometrist from which she retired.
Yve dedicated her time to her loving husband Peter, family, volunteering at the Seniors Centre, Meals on Wheels and many other no profit services within the community.
Yve was baptized in the early 1980’s into the Church of Christ where she remained a faithful member. Yve spent her last two years at Pinecrest Home for the Aged where she was happy and enjoyed all the staff.
Yve touched many hearts and was an inspiration to all. Yve will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.
The family would like to thank Pinecrest Home for the Aged for their care and compassion during Yve’s time with them. A special thank you to Roberta from the whole family for your hours of love and days of care, attention, patience and love.
As per Yve’s request cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 06, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Pinecrest Home for the Aged.
