
Bonnie J. Lukassen, 77, of rural Dix, died at Kimball Health Services on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 with her husband and son by her side after a long battle with COPD. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Kimball with Father Robert Karnish officiating. Burial will be in the Kimball Cemetery. Christian wake service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 1:00 until 7:00 p.m. Memorials have been established to the donor’s choice. The services for Bonnie have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.
Bonnie Joyce Lukassen was born in Omaha, Nebraska on December 6, 1933, the daughter of Leland and Mildred (Burr) Dotson. She graduated from the Kimball High School in 1952. She was married to James Lukassen in Kimball on May 10, 1958. Bonnie became a loving mother to one son Jimmie. She worked as a bookkeeper for Ray and Mike Schadegg, Kimball Plumbing and Heating, Culligan of Sidney and numerous others over the years. In 1962 she moved to the family farm south of Kimball and became a devoted homemaker and bookkeeper for the family farming business. Bonnie was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where she was a member of the altar society and had a strong devotion to prayer and for the love of God. She enjoyed collecting chicken memorabilia. She was a very caring and loving person, loving her husband, son and step daughter. Bonnie loved and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, Jennifer, Shawna, Kiana and Dawson. She will be missed by her family and friends who will cherish her memory and loving ways.
Survivors include her husband Jim of Dix; son Jimmie (Ridinna) Lukassen of Spring City, TN; step daughter Debbie (Bob) Anderson of North Dakota; grandchildren Jennifer (Jake) Strecker of Kenai, AK., Shawna Lukassen of Kenai, AK., and Kiana Bernard of Spring City, TN; grandson Dawson Bernard of Spring City, TN; sister-in-law and brother-in-law MaryLee and Bill Morris of Kimball; sister-in-law JoAnn Dotson of Atchison, KS; nieces Kathy, Barb and Cheryl; nephews Terry, Tom and Jeff; special friend Ellen Vrtatko of Dix, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and brother Carl Dotson.
