

Clarence “Bub” Gieber, 89, of Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, died at the Cheyenne Health Care Center on Wednesday, February 10, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 15, 2016 at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Pine Bluffs with Father Kevin Koch officiating. Viewing will be held at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be held in the Pine Bluffs Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 6. Friends may visit www.cantrellfh.com to view Clarence’s Tribute Wall and leave condolences for the family. Memorials have been established to the St. Paul’s Knights of Columbus. The services for Clarence have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.
Clarence “Bub” Gieber was born in Clifton, Kansas on July 13, 1926, the son of Clarence and Rose (Esslinger) Gieber. He was raised and attended school in Clifton and graduated from Clifton High School in 1943. Clarence worked for Northern Natural Gas and helped with farming in the Clifton area. He enlisted in the US Army in 1945 and served his country until being honorably discharged. He moved to Pine Bluffs after cutting wheat in the area, and his family joined him in 1948. Bub and his father built the Phillips 66 Service Station in Pine Bluffs. He worked for the City of Pine Bluffs and then Doris Mercer’s Plumbing and later at the City Swimming Pool. He met Selma Burkholder in 1954 and they were married on November 27, 1954 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Pine Bluffs. They were blessed with six children: Kathleen, Clarence Jr., Patricia, Lori, John and Janet. In 1956 Bub purchased the Pine’s Body Shop and operated that business until 1975. He then went to work for the Laramie County School District #2 in Pine Bluffs and after 13 years of service Bub retired in 1988. Soon after retirement he started cleaning the Pine Bluffs Post Office and drove a school bus for Laramie County School District #2. He was a member of the Pine Bluffs JC’s, the volunteer fire department, the Columbian Council of the Knight’s of Columbus and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife Selma Gieber of Pine Bluffs, WY; son John Gieber of Fall City, WA; daughters Kathleen (David) Winters of Loveland, CO., Patricia (Edwin) Stoner of Cheyenne, WY., Lori (Elon) Nelson of Holyoke, CO., and Janet (Frank) Collins of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren Jerod Stoner, Tara Miller, Shawn Stoner, Kyler Winters, Nathaniel Gieber, Callie Collins, Cassidy Collins, Sydney Nelson, Elise Nelson and Xander Nelson; 4 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Clarence Jr., Brother Larry Gieber, Sister Lenore Hauschel.
