
Donna V. Olsen, 79, of Harrisburg, died at Kimball Health Services on Thursday, September 8, 2011. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Father Ed Newbury officiating. Inurnment will be in the Kimball Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Friends may leave on line condolences for the family at www.cantrellfh.com . Memorials may be given to the Banner County School Board Foundation or the Donor’s Choice. The services for Donna have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.
Donna V. Olsen was born in Flowerfield, Nebraska on April 1, 1932, the daughter of Eddie and Flora (Trumbull) Gulick. She was raised in Banner County and attended school in Harrisburg and graduated in 1949. She then attended Denver College of Business and received her secretary certificate. She worked at the Sioux Army Depot in Sidney for a short time. Donna was married to William Olsen in Scottsbluff on February 20, 1951. They farmed and ranched in Kimball and Banner Counties until moving to Harrisburg in 1982 and retiring in 1988. She enjoyed reading, cooking, playing cards and doing embroidering. Donna loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was known to everyone as Grammy. She was a 4-H leader for 30 years and was always interested in her children’s activities. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her sons William Olsen, Jr. of Kersey, CO., Martin (Nancy) Olsen of Banner County, NE., Alan Olsen of Harrisburg, NE., and Jim (JoAnn) Schneider of Morrill, NE; daughters Carol (Raymond) McNulty of Jackson, MS and Jane Lea (Billy) Baker of Pine Bluffs, WY; sisters Maxine Lanning of Pine Bluffs, WY., Imogene Anderson of Scottsbluff, NE., Glenna Streeks of Gering, NE., Janice (J.W.) Snyder of Harrisburg, NE., and Janett (Harold) Conour of Cheyenne, WY; sister-in-laws Mary Lewis, Lois (Bud) Stanfield and Reva Spiller all of TX., and Lorraine Olsen of CA; 22 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Her parents, husband and daughter Becky Jo Schneider preceded her in death.
