Richard “Rick” A. Hisey, 71, of Kimball, died at his home on Saturday, April 13, 2024. Memorial services will be held on Monday, April 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball. The family invites friends to gather for a luncheon at the Eagles following the services to gather and celebrate Rick. Friends may visit www.cantrellfh.com to share condolences and stories with the family. Memorials may be given in his memory to the donor’s choice. The services for Rick have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.
Richard Alvin Hisey was born in Oberlin, Kansas on August 10, 1952, the son of Alvin and Beverly (Butler) Hisey. After starting school in Oberlin, the family moved to Kimball circa 1960 where Rick graduated from Kimball High School in 1970. In his youth, Rick was an accomplished horseman earning accolades in Horse Shows, 4-H and as a jockey. After high school, he attended Colby College and worked in the oil industry before returning to Kimball to farm and ranch with his father, Alvin. After several years spent farming, ranching and running cattle, Rick grew Hisey Farms into a custom chopping business that took him all over the central US. Rick was an avid outdoorsman. Known as the “Lisco Legend”, he turned his passion for hunting into a guide business with Scott Lockwood that resulted in many storied tales! He also loved to fish-lakes, rivers, and his favorite-halibut in Alaska.
Rick lived life large. His personality-a mixture of humor, mischievousness, determination, and a heart of gold-was infectious earning him many friends and many stories to share. He will be missed. Survivors include his life partner Catie Radloff of Kimball, NE; children Shelli Friesen of Ft. Collins, CO., Sean Hisey (Schuyler Tutt) of Seattle, WA., and Calli Hisey of Vancouver, WA; brothers Greg (Melody) Hisey of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, Canada and Mike Hisey of Kimball, NE; sister Trish (Dave) Lukassen of Kimball, NE; grandchildren Delaney Friesen and Haddie Friesen. He was preceded in death by his parents.
