
Verna L. Wentz, 95, of Kimball, died at Kimball Health Services on Monday, October 24, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Kimball with Pastor Lynda Parson officiating. Burial will be in the Kimball Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. Friends who wish can visit www.cantrellfh.com to view the on line obituary and leave condolences for the family. Memorials may be given to the Make A Wish Foundation or the Ronald McDonald House. The services for Verna have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.
Verna Louise Wentz was born in Banner County on April 6, 1916, the daughter of James and Anna Miller. She attended school in Bushnell and graduated in 1933. Verna was married to Gerald R. Wentz in Torrington, Wyoming on June 1, 1933. They made their home in Torrington and Verna was a homemaker while her husband farmed for local farmers. They moved to Kimball in 1949 and she taught school for a year during WWII. She later worked at various stores in Kimball and then worked for Heins Chevrolet as a bookkeeper until her retirement. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Knights of Pithias and the Red Hatters. She was also a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club.
Survivors include her daughters Jerlyn (Harland) Thompson of Litchfield Park, AZ., and Charlotte (Al) Zak of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren Michael (Barbara) Thompson, Laurie Thompson and Geoffrey (Pam) Thompson, LeaAnn Zak, Leslie (Rich) Dekker and Lisa Zak and Robert Moreno; great grandchildren Joe Ahlin, Mikala Ahlin, Brittany (Jo) Jacobs, Sean Moreno and Sara Moreno. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
