

Gerald L. King, age 65, of Buckley, formerly of Dansville, passed away peacefully, Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Birchwood Tendercare Nursing Home. He was born November 5, 1947 in Lansing to Dwaine and June (Howe) King. He attended Holt High School where he boxed for the Diamondale Club. He competed in many Golden Glove competitions.
Jerry married the late Brenda Barden in Mason on July 29, 1967. Together they raised 2 children. Jerry was drafted into the US Army in 1967 serving on the DMZ during the Korean war.
Once Jerry returned home he worked for Spartan Asphalt. He then went to work as a Supervisor for the Ingham County Road Commission.
In his younger years, Jerry enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing.
Jerry is survived by a son Jeffrey (Delana) King of Barryton, and a daughter Shelly (Jason) Bradley of Buckley; brother: Michael (Vicki) King of Buckley, Beverly (Rudy) Tirban of Barryton; 4 grandchildren: Ryan, Stephanie, and Jessica King, and Misty Bradley.
Besides his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Brenda and infant grandson Jeffrey Scott King.
A visitation will be held Sunday, April 7, 2013 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley. A Funeral will be held Monday, April 8, 2013 at 11 am with visitation one hour prior also at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Sherman Mesick Cemetery with military honors.
