Kimberly Kay Stein

Kimberly Kay Stein, age 54, passed away at home Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017. She was born Sept. 25, 1962 in Covina, California, to Roger and Carmen (Schultz) Kitzmiller. Kimberly graduated from Buckley High School in 1980 and on Aug. 11, 1990, she married Kevin Stein, and together they raised two children, Amber and R.J.
Kimberly worked as a pharmacy technician at Meijer's Pharmacy for 25 years until she retired. She loved being outdoors, especially working in her garden, and riding her horse, Maggie May. She even tried her hand at bear hunting this past fall. Kimberly also enjoyed canning, baking, crafting, raising French Brittany Spaniels and traveling, especially to Mexico. She was a devoted wife and mother and adored being a grammy to her little monkey, Aidin.
Kimberly didn't let her battle with cancer take over. At first, she asked, "Why me?" but very soon it became "Why not me?"
Kimberly is survived by her husband, Kevin; daughter, Amber Kowalewski; son, Raymond Jay Stein; grandson, Aidin Joshua Kowalewski; siblings, Pam (Pete) Hansen, Dianna Malik, Randy (Tammie) Kitzmiller, Dave (Shirley) Kitzmiller, Allen Kitzmiller; mother-in-law, Dolores Stein; brothers-in-law, Mark (Sheree) Stein, David (Stacy) Stein, Glenn (Kathy) Stein; sister-in-law, Elaine Stein; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law, Charles Stein; her brother-in-law, Joseph Malik; and her niece, Brittany Kitzmiller.
Visitation was held Thursday, Jan. 19 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley. A Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Fife Lake. Memorial contributions were made to the Kimberly Stein Memorial in care of Kevin Stein. Arrangements were entrusted to Covell Funeral Home of Kingsley.
