B. Diane Neeb died at home on Sunday (February 17, 2019) at the age of 72 years, after a brief illness. She was born at Fort Bragg, North Carolina on October 17, 1946 to Joyce (Gardner) and Leo Shelton, Jr. and lived her early years in Kingsport, Tennessee. She is survived by her husband 54 years, Randy Neeb, her mother, Joyce Shelton of Kingsport, Tennessee, one son, Patrick R. Neeb and daughter-in-law, Steffanee Neeb of Las Vegas, Nevada as well as many relatives and friends in the local area.
Early in life, Diane’s family left Kingsport and moved many times because of her father’s work as an electrician. They finally settled in Mineola, New York where Diane completed her education. From a young age, Diane was always a high energy person who loved people, bowling, reading, and playing bridge. While in high school, she enjoyed part-time work at Best & Co. and was active in DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) which prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. After her marriage to Randy Neeb in 1964, she moved to Fort Bliss, Texas because of her husband’s military assignment. For the next 22 years, as a supportive U.S. Army wife, she moved many times. Diane was never a home body and worked both part-time and full-time most of her life in the finance and floor covering/home decorating industry. After many years of working for someone else she became the owner/operator of Sun Floors of El Paso, Texas until her retirement and relocation back to Kingsport, TN in 1998 in order to be closer to her family. During her lifetime she was an active volunteer and office holder in the following organizations: Volunteer Services Council of the El Paso State Center, Pilot Club of El Paso, Texas, CASA of Kingsport, and the Sertoma Club of Kingsport.
Diane loved children and was a supporter of the Fordtown Baptist Academy. Memorial gifts in Diane’s memory can be made to the Fordtown Baptist Academy (Attn: Kay Scalf, 444 Old Fordtown Road, Kingsport, TN 37663).
