She was a devoted wife, supporting mother and grandmother, and attentive sister. She loved to travel, but her real hobby was her grandchildren. She worked as a homemaker, secretary for Holston Defense, and with the Better Business Bureau prior to retiring.
Barbara was married to Wayne Bryant for almost 25 years before his passing. After, she devoted her time and energy to raising her son and supporting her family. Her edifying presence will be missed.
She found her greatest joy in life supporting others. She would be the first to volunteer to tend to a sick loved one or stay with a nursing home bound in-law. Barbara’s propensity to give of her time and energy often exceeded her physical ability to do so, but that never delayed her. When her grandkids needed her, even for a day, she would be preparing for a long trip to meet their needs. In Barbara’s eyes, no opportunity to put her loved ones first ever went unmet. It is in that dedication to others where she will be truly missed.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Bryant; parents, Ada Greer and Emory Lawson; sisters, Ollie Lawson and Ann Lawson; and brothers, Darrell Lawson and Bob Lawson.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Chris Bryant and wife Cathy; grandchildren, Reagan, Tyler, and Sarah Bryant; brothers, George Lawson and wife Betty, Herman Lawson and wife Patsy, and Mac Lawson and wife Debbie; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 11, 2019 from 12:00 to 2:00pm at East Lawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of Barbara’s life will follow at 2:00pm with Mr. Ethan Magness officiating.
Barbara will be laid to rest at 3:00pm at East Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of Love. Friends will serve as pallbearers.
